New Welfare Officer

Dear members,

Following the AGM in December 2020 I am pleased to let you know that as well as becoming Honorary Secretary I have taken over the Welfare Officer role from Elaine (since she stepped up to Chairperson). In terms of key information for members I am your first point of contact regarding any safeguarding concern you may have about a child or an adult at the tennis club.

Part of my training has involved attending two LTA safeguarding courses as well as obtaining up to date DBS clearance. I work closely alongside Andrew (Head Coach) and Sue Rush (Tennis Manager) to ensure that we regularly update and meet with the coaching team.

We review all of the club policies on a rolling programme and this was a job I undertook during the autumn lockdown months. All reviewed policies can be found on the Club website but please contact Sarah if you cannot access these and would like a paper copy. The list includes:

· Safeguarding Policy
· Safeguarding Statement
· Code of Conduct
· Diversity and Inclusion Policy
· Safe Recruitment Policy
· Online Safety & Communication Policy
· Whistleblowing Policy
· Anti-Bullying Policy
· Photography and Filming Policy
· Transportation of Children Policy
· Sun Protection & Heat Policy
· Supervision of Children Policy
· Use of Changing Rooms Policy
· Transgender Inclusion Policy

We would ask all members to look at the Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct as a starting point. Further updates may come in the form of an email or as part of Ashley’s Adult newsletter or my Junior newsletter.

Any questions you may have please ask.

Kind regards and stay safe!
